Spark Smith Electric, Inc. is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured electrical service provider, proudly serving the Bay Area since 2018. Founded and led by a union-trained journeyman electrician, we bring extensive commercial and industrial experience to every residential, commercial, and light-industrial project.

Our team has completed projects across Northern California, including Oakland, Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, the East Bay, and the surrounding areas. From residential service upgrades and EV charger installations to complex commercial tenant improvements, switchgear projects, and industrial power systems, we have delivered hundreds of successful electrical solutions.

About Me

Hi, my name is Trevor Smith, and I am the owner of Spark Smith Electric, Inc. I grew up in Northern California, born in Sacramento and raised between Sacramento and Stockton. My parents loved my brother and me so much that they decided we deserved two birthdays and two Christmases! I’m now 46 years old, building my business so I can marry the woman of my dreams, Stefani, and start a family of our own. I’m a Bay Area homeowner myself, and I practice what I preach, I’ve upgraded my own home just like I aim to upgrade yours.

I’ve been working in the electrical field for over 20 years. I originally got into electrical construction because I thought I could drink beer on the job, but I’ve been sober for 10 years now. I was also drawn to the trade because of my love for maps. Just like maps with their different colored roads, electrical systems have colored wires that tell a story, and I enjoy decoding and navigating them.

My career began as an apprentice with a residential company, installing electrical systems in new apartments in downtown Sacramento. I decided to pursue electrical work as a long-term career and joined the union, entering the IBEW apprenticeship program. The IBEW, in partnership with NECA, provides extensive training to create well-rounded electricians. During my apprenticeship, I gained experience on a wide variety of projects: hospitals, schools, water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, fuel depots, central utility plants, top-secret areas requiring clearance, and power plants. There are very few areas of the electrical trade I haven’t experienced.

Today, I focus on residential electrical panels, EV charger installations, and troubleshooting electrical problems. I enjoy helping people meet their electrical needs with a positive attitude and a friendly smile. I also take pride in working on larger commercial projects and look forward to growing Spark Smith Electric to handle both residential and commercial projects for years to come.
